Welcome to Lion and Bear Play Therapy, a company named after my two children, who are lovingly nicknamed Freddie Bear and Leo Lion!  I specialise in child psychology services to support the growth and development of young minds. I am dedicated to creating a safe and nurturing environment for children to express themselves and explore their emotions. Through personalised and compassionate care, I aim to empower children to overcome challenges and thrive in all aspects of their lives.

Play is essential for children to develop physically, emotionally and socially.

It fosters imagination and creativity and encourages confidence and concentration. It helps children to make friends and learn about their ever-expanding world. It allows them to learn from mistakes safely.

Professional History

How did I get to where I am today?

Education

I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology which I obtained through the University of the West of England. I have since gone on to study a post-graduate degree in Play therapy through PTUK.

Approach

I provide an integrative holistic approach alongside individualised care tailored to each child's unique needs, combining evidence-based therapies with a compassionate approach to foster emotional well-being and personal growth.

Experience

I have two children with complex needs which allows me a very personal experience of the difficulties faced by children and their families during difficult times. I have worked with children from a young age and have completed over 200 hours of practice with children.

Specialisation

Specialising in childhood development, I focus on promoting healthy emotional, cognitive, and social growth in children to help them navigate life's challenges and achieve their full potential.

Certifications

•The Academy of Play and Child Therapy (APAC) formed in 1998, founded by Monica Jephcott and Jeff Thomas. In 2000 they formed Play Therapy UK (PTUK) (PTUK, 2022).

•PTUK are now accredited by Chichester University have been on the PSA's accredited voluntary register (AVR) of Play and Creative Arts Therapy (PTUK, 2022).

Achievements

My biggest achievements are my two sons and seeing them face their challenges and navigate these through their resilience and strength. This is my motivation for supporting other children that may be facing difficult and challenging times.
